He took an education in graphic design/drawing at the Academy of Fri and Merkantil Art and Jørgen Struck’s drawing studio. Subsequently he worked with several branches in the creative world. Ole Fick performs as a musician, graphic designer, actor, composer, artist, cartoonist and satire illustrator. Over the years he has worked with posters, record and CD covers for the Danish rock and folk scene. Ole Fick is especially known for his participation in the band ‘Burnin Red Ivanhoe’ as a rock guitarist and singer. At the same time, he has acted as comedian (Dr. Leo Lummerkrog) in the ensemble ‘Monrad & Rislund, Ougaard & Fick’ for the past 25 years, and has also casted the voice to the Danish ‘Postman Per’. Ole Fick’s career has also led him through 10 years as a satire illustrator at Ekstra Bladet, and he has participated in a wide range of children’s programs, ‘Ude på Noget’ and ‘Hvorfor Uglen i Hulen’ among other things. In addition, he has composed music for children’s films for DR, as well as working on film manuscripts, including the children’s film ‘ALBERT’ after Ole Lund Kirkegaard’s children’s book.
Today and through the last 16 years he has also worked as a satire illustrator for the annual release of Svikmøllen. In 2010, Ole Fick began to exhibit his paintings, and took the turn as an artist.
Ole Ficks paintings ask questions about reality and the seriousness of life. He works in humorism and has both self-esteem, humor and self-consciousness in his art. Ole Fick’s works are a reflection of himself as a person – He tells a story and urges smiles and laughter. Although Fick’s art contains a great deal of humor, there is also a hidden meaning in much of his art, and that is precisely what makes the works extremely exciting to study.
