Piotr Kachny was born in Poland where he still lives and works today. His art is imprinted by strong complementary colours, which Piotr Kachny applies to his paintings with an expressive, energetic and almost cubist brushstroke. The contrasting colours contribute to the paintings becoming alive and as a viewer this draws you. You cannot avoid throwing an extra glance on Piotr Kachny’s expressive paintings, and that is only positive: because according to himself the essentials in his paintings are not the first thing you notice. According to Piotr Kachny he makes use of the human, especially female, face as an excuse to show what is hidden inside the human being, which is why Piotr Kachny explores many kinds of attitudes in his paintings. The fact that Piotr Kachny seeks to express something special with his paintings is also expressed on his website where Piotr Kachny quotes the deceased German artist, Martin Kippenberger:
“You can’t stand yourself next to every painting/ picture you paint and explain things. Paintings have to talk for themselves”
