Toulouse Art School, Interior Design and Product Design, Ecole des Beaux-Arts, FR
She is born in Carmaux in south western France. In 1989 she is accepted at the Toulouse Ecole des Beaux-Arts at the Interior Design and Production Design line, which she finishes in 1995. However, later Muriel discovers that the art of painting is a much more evident path for her, and she then dedicates her life to art. Even so, the architectural influences are still distinct in her paintings among other things in her technique and cubistic shapes, which are central in each painting.
Technique is the keyword in terms of Muriel’s works. She is engaged with powdered pigment in intense colors, which she places upon layers of oil painting and then carves shapes into with a scalpel. Hence, the inner layer of paint shines through creating a glowing, vivid expression. The many layers and textures of the paintings create a depth, which is significant for Muriel’s works.
Her art is abstract but nonetheless expresses concrete feelings of sorrow, passion and fervor especially because of the pulsating colors. The artist is engaged with creating paintings, which are independent of time and place – timeless art that exudes beauty. Which emphasizes why Muriel Lhermet is a part of Galleri V58’s collection.
