Born 1973
Linda Horn expresses her work as follows: ”I have been occupied with visual art since 1995. Concurrent with my artwork, I have been working for a couple of years with a professional actor to get a more physical perspective in correlation with the human faces for more emotional expressions. The work with different characters, texts, monologues and body language has worked as a source of inspiration to many of my portraits, which is my primary motif. The theme in my work with visual art revolves around different studies of the portrait combined and in harmony with abstract and organic forms – inspired by the structures of nature, surfaces, colours and movement. To me, there seems to be a parallel between the human face and nature, where both can be experienced as a metaphor for change and transformation in life. Here we find the whole spectrum from dark to light, from the destructive to the life-giving elements, from the earthly to the transcendent. I work with the relation between the figurative and the abstract, the relation between painting and drawing and the interaction between the thoroughly worked parties and the more immediate and free expression. Especially the drawing is an essentially aspect in my paintings, where I, with inspiration from among other things the calligraphies idiom, work with the strokes sensuousness, movement and rhythm as an integrated part of the expression.”

Inspiration
“Inspiration from photo material with portrayals and nature with abstract surfaces and forms starts the painting process. In my work I try to integrate the portrait in a more abstract form/form of nature. I call this fusion between human and nature for “The nature shape”. At the time occupied by the wing/butterfly symbol; resurrection, transformation, transition between and in humans and nature. Life cycle. Reflection of a certain disposition among others inspired by the Indian philosophy of nature. What else inspires me? Litterature, music, movies.. The underlying atmosphere and poetry which I am trying to be receptive towards. To catch something undefinable and give it shape.

Artists like Ian Mckeever, Marlene Dumas, Pollock, Kirsten Klein and Kehnet Nielsen. Writers like Inger Christensen (“Butterfly Valley”), Icelandic saga’s (Prophecy of the Völva – Völuspá), Jung (The unconscious/subconscious, symbols).
Inspired by thinkers like Hannah Arendt; “We are made to begin” (As opposed to being made to die!.. It is important that there always is a possibility of beginning. That there is the potential of growth.).”
